R&D Engineer 3, Electrical Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accountable for the design engineering of electrical systems.

• Manages and coordinates tasks with assigned subcontractors.

• Guarantees adherence to the requirements set by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, RTOs, and ISOs.

• Coordinates the design of electrical systems specifically for microgrids and Data Centers.

• Establishes and reviews project specifications, formulates project timelines, and oversees their execution.

• Develops and evaluates electrical system design deliverables.

• Conducts interdisciplinary reviews of work produced by interfacing disciplines and ensures owner review and acceptance of subcontractor deliverables.

• Performs additional duties as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

• At least 5 years of experience in the commercial power sector, focusing on design or systems engineering.

• Proficient in electric power distribution, load following, dynamic Data Center power demands, and energy storage.

• Familiarity with Grid-Forming Control, Grid-Following Control, and EPMS.

• Extensive experience with ETAP for Microgrid Power System Analysis, distribution network assessments, load flow, short-circuit, protective relaying, and coordination analysis.

• Experience with instrumentation and control systems for steam generation, steam valves, safety systems, and the integration of closed-loop SCADA controlled systems applied to turbo-machinery and industrial processes.

• Experience in supporting cross-functional teams, including various engineering disciplines, operations, maintenance, planning, etc.

• Involvement with industry standards associations or working groups.

• Proven project management capabilities.
