Quality Assurance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and uphold comprehensive testing strategies that encompass the entire AGent platform — including cloud backend, IoT device communication, embedded firmware, and customer-facing application layers.

• Design and implement functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end test suites across all components of the platform.

• Take ownership of test planning for new features and releases, collaborating closely with engineering leads to guarantee that quality is integrated from the outset — rather than appended afterward.

• Keep detailed documentation of test coverage, results, and known issues throughout the platform.

• Test AWS infrastructure components such as IoT Core device provisioning, Lambda functions, and data ingestion pipelines.

• Assess TimescaleDB schema performance and data integrity under conditions of high-volume, high-frequency telemetry loads.

• Evaluate API integrations, data pipelines, and backend services for reliability, accuracy, and scalability performance.

• Formulate and execute test protocols for IoT device communication, provisioning workflows, and command handling between cloud and embedded systems.

• Collaborate with the Embedded Engineering team to validate firmware functionality, device-to-cloud messaging, and accuracy of real-time control events.

• Construct test environments and simulation frameworks that mimic real-world generator behavior and edge cases.

• Develop and sustain automated test suites that are integrated into AGent's CI/CD pipelines through GitHub Actions.

• Implement automated regression coverage to identify issues prior to their deployment in production.

• Continuously enhance test efficiency, coverage, and reliability through automation and tooling advancements.

• Collaborate with Cloud Backend, Application, and Embedded Engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle — not solely at the conclusion.

• Identify, document, and monitor bugs with clear reproduction steps and prioritization recommendations.

• Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute to process improvements aimed at preventing recurrence.

• Actively utilize Claude AI and other AI tools to expedite test case generation, documentation, and defect analysis — fostering a mindset of continuous improvement on how AI can enhance quality across the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in QA engineering with a proven track record of end-to-end test strategy ownership and execution.

• Practical experience in testing cloud-based systems — AWS experience is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with IoT systems, device communication protocols, and testing of embedded firmware.

• Experience in building and maintaining automated test frameworks and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong SQL skills for data validation and backend testing.

• Familiarity with Claude AI or other AI tools in a professional setting, or a strong desire to incorporate AI into your QA processes.

• Detail-oriented with excellent written communication skills — capable of documenting clearly and advocating for quality effectively.

• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across cloud, embedded, and application engineering teams.
