Quality Assurance Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Perform testing on digital products, services, and technologies to ensure that the State adheres to the highest accessibility standards.

• Organize and maintain testing data to facilitate targeted remediation efforts.

• Support code review and remediation processes, assisting developers and engineers in swiftly implementing best practice solutions for critical usability challenges.

• Conduct audits of existing State systems and customer-facing assets to identify accessibility issues, compiling and presenting test data to highlight both common and unique areas of need.

• Create test cases and refine testing protocols to enable thorough issue discovery.

• Summarize accessibility findings effectively and offer remediation recommendations, including both code-level and role-based solutions.

• Assess new vendor products for compliance with accessibility standards and contribute to enhancing the State's procurement process for technology and digital services.

• Gather and document testing data to facilitate clear benchmarking, gap analysis, and risk assessment aligned with platform, service domain, asset type, and customer journey.

• Aid in performance scoring, compliance tracking, and the preparation of analysis reports.

• Collaborate with State Accessibility leadership to support the roadmap, vision, and strategy for enterprise accessibility enhancements.

• Execute and refine manual accessibility testing for all state digital assets, both pre- and post-remediation.

• Implement testing policies and conduct quality checks on audit processes to validate results and uphold best practices for testing, applicable to both state and vendor work.

• Communicate testing outcomes clearly and provide expertise to assist stakeholders in understanding results.

• Keep Accessibility leadership informed about progress, challenges, and outcomes related to enterprise testing initiatives.

• Foster and maintain effective relationships across various teams to support accessibility efforts within the State.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory, preferably in fields such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Web Development, Library or Information Science, or Human-Computer Interaction.

• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in digital accessibility testing, including familiarity with assistive technologies, WCAG compliance, and manual testing methodologies.

• At least 2 years of experience in a digital product team, either as a project owner or an individual contributor, collaborating with internal and external teams to enhance products and services using digital accessibility technologies, policies, and best practices.

• Strong manual testing proficiency with assistive technologies such as NVDA, JAWS, Dragon, Fusion, Deque, Wave, ZoomText, VoiceOver, and TalkBack, as well as expertise in built-in device features like speech-to-text, text-to-speech, magnifiers, onscreen keyboards, eye gaze technology, and alternative input devices including keyboards.

• Advanced knowledge of HTML, ARIA, and semantic markup.

• Proven expertise in auditing both common and legacy systems and products to identify accessibility issues, providing guidance for mitigation, and enhancing accessibility knowledge and practices within internal teams.

• Demonstrated understanding of user-centered design (UCD) methodologies and the ability to utilize testing data to address accessibility design challenges.

• Strong grasp of responsive web design principles, techniques, and frameworks.
