QA Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete testing lifecycle across various teams and projects, establishing and enforcing QA processes while standardizing tools, environments, and test coverage company-wide.

• Develop and continuously enhance QA processes, procedures, and standards for testing products prior to market release.

• Ensure a scalable testing infrastructure and expand our testing capabilities into advanced areas such as performance, security, and compliance testing.

• Identify systemic quality deficiencies and cross-team risks, perform trend analysis on quality metrics, and foresee issues that may impact release stability or timelines.

• Assess and resolve organizational hurdles in QA workflows, managing trade-offs and delivery schedules while ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.

• Provide executive-level insights on QA through reports, dashboards, and strategic recommendations to the Head of QA and cross-functional leadership.

• Lead and mentor QA Leads and senior contributors, promoting career development, succession planning, and technical leadership within the QA organization.

• Allocate workloads, set objectives for QA Leads and their teams, and conduct performance evaluations across the department.

• Propel continuous performance assessment and enhancement of QA teams — addressing conflicts, enhancing morale, and fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and excellence.

• Champion Agile testing and quality throughout the organization, promoting quality awareness at every phase of the product lifecycle.

• Supervise QA engineers and Leads responsible for testing our products and implementing automation across cross-functional teams.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business analysts to define requirements and comprehensive testing strategies.

• Engage in reviews of software requirements, design documents, and system architecture to ensure early address of testing requirements.

• Manage and prioritize reported defects while maintaining visibility over how features developed by other teams interact within subsystems.

• Continuously enhance and refactor our testing infrastructure and automated/regression frameworks to ensure reliability and scalability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field.

• Over 8 years of experience in software QA, encompassing both manual and automated testing of web and API applications, with a minimum of 2 years directly managing QA Leads, senior engineers, or a multi-team QA function.

• Experience in the insurance industry or a similarly regulated and complex sector is a significant advantage.

• Established history of implementing QA processes, tools, and standards across the organization, not limited to a single team.

• Experience in executive-level reporting — adept at converting quality metrics into insights and recommendations for senior leadership.

• Comprehensive understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes throughout the entire testing lifecycle.

• Proven experience in implementing and scaling automated testing frameworks within an agile environment, with a strong grasp of BDD and Gherkin.

• Hands-on experience with testing tools for JavaScript and .NET, such as Jest, Mocha, JMeter, Cypress, Selenium, Puppeteer, NUnit, Cucumber, Telerik, Specflow, or similar, along with their integration into CI.

• Proficient in defect tracking and test management tools, with substantial experience in establishing QA processes and conducting organized performance reviews.

• Basic knowledge of performance, security, and compliance testing domains.

• Practical experience in building and deploying AI-driven processes across teams or workflows.
