This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Develop, plan, and manage the implementation of project test plans for one or multiple titles, ensuring timely delivery that meets the studio’s quality standards. This includes creating and updating test plans for partners, collaborating on project scope and expectations, tracking progress, and confirming that deliverables align with studio criteria. You'll also assist in onboarding new partner team members to studio policies and procedures while fostering team development through training, constructive feedback, and hands-on coaching.
• Collaborate with the development team to provide testing assistance and insights across gameplay systems, content, and game balance. You will create and implement test strategies in alignment with engineering and production leadership, representing QA in cross-disciplinary meetings to ensure testing priorities align with project development goals.
• Adopt an engineering approach to the QA function. Identify opportunities for automation, tooling, or improved instrumentation to reduce repetitive manual tasks. Collaborate with engineering to integrate tests into CI, enhance build verification, and accelerate feedback loops. Maintain and upgrade the bug database, ensuring issues are well-defined and actionable, and promptly escalate major or blocking issues to development.
• Investigate how AI tools can enhance the QA process — including test case generation, log triage, crash clustering, automated reproduction, smarter bug deduplication, and AI-assisted exploratory testing. You will be expected to critically assess tools, prototype when appropriate, and guide the rest of the team in their implementation.
• Manage the operational core of QA: coordinating 1st party certification with Production and Development, delivering clear and concise status updates, and proactively prioritizing based on the current state of the project.
• 5+ years of professional QA experience on software projects, including a minimum of 3 years in a QA Lead role.
• Proven experience leading internal test teams and/or managing external test partners.
• Background in functional and usability testing across various gaming platforms and genres.
• Proficient with Jira (or similar tools) for tracking tasks, managing assignments, and generating report data.
• Strong understanding of QA concepts, terminology, tools, and debugging processes.
• Experience with 1st party compliance and certification testing.
• Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Python, JavaScript, C#, or similar) for automation, log parsing, or developing small internal tools; you don't need to be a full software engineer, but a complete lack of coding ability isn't suitable.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and the role of automated tests in a build pipeline.
• Genuine interest in applied AI/ML within a QA context, along with the discernment to differentiate between hype and reality.
• In-depth knowledge of console platforms, peripherals, PC hardware/software, and the standard Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results without constant oversight.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• **Pluses**
• An associate or bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Practical experience in building test automation frameworks (UI, API, or gameplay automation).
• Experience with AI-assisted developer or QA tools (such as Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, agentic testing tools, LLM-powered triage, etc.) and insights on their effectiveness.
• Familiarity with game-specific automation techniques — including bots, replay systems, deterministic simulations, and telemetry-driven testing.
• Knowledge of Perforce.
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine and/or Unity.
• Experience working with telemetry, crash reporting, and analytics pipelines.
• Understanding of the software testing lifecycle and iterative development methodologies.
• Comprehensive health and wellness programs.
• Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
• Flexible working hours and remote work options.
• Collaborative and inclusive work environment.
