Purchasing Agent

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Place direct purchase orders with suppliers and oversee delivery management.

• Generate purchase orders in line with company standards.

• Ensure that service and fill rate metrics are achieved for assigned supplier lines.

• Analyze market trends to pinpoint cost-saving opportunities and suggest vendor-purchase actions to leadership.

• Implement strategies aimed at reducing procurement costs.

• Monitor inventory levels while balancing stock, cash flow, customer satisfaction, sales, and margin.

• Utilize the ERP system to analyze demand-planning data and propose adjustments to forecasting.

• Review daily Excel reports to enhance backorders and fill rates.

• Supervise forecasting tools and modify purchasing strategies accordingly.

• Manage procurement channels, including direct buying, transfers, and hub/spoke models.

• Initiate vendor returns and facilitate product transfers within the company network.

• Sustain supplier relationships and manage vendor interactions, purchase orders, and agreements.

• Assess supplier performance and work with Purchasing Leadership and Merchandising to address issues.

• Develop alternative supplier sources to minimize risk.

• Ensure that purchasing activities conform to company policies and regulations.

• Maintain precise records of purchases, contracts, and suppliers.

• Collaborate with operations, merchandising, finance, and other departments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of three years’ experience in purchasing or supply chain management, including vendor and line management.

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).

• Industry-specific experience or product knowledge (preferred but not mandatory).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
