Public Safety GIS & Data Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Deliver advanced-level geospatial and intelligence elements.

• Equip learners with both theoretical knowledge and practical applications that demonstrate how geographic information systems can convert data into actionable intelligence.

• Cultivate essential skills for accessing, analyzing, and communicating real-time information to assist public safety personnel in intelligence-led and evidence-based responses.

• Motivate students to critically evaluate the relationship between social issues and the outputs of geospatial intelligence, as well as the potential ethical dilemmas associated with the misuse or misapplication of these outputs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's Degree

• Relevant Fields: Public Administration, Public Safety, Criminology, Business, Geography

• Doctorate is preferred.

• Significant research and/or professional experience in the public safety sector with an emphasis on geospatial analysis.

• Certifications or experience in: Geographic Information Specialist Designation (GISP); extensive familiarity with the ESRI software suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and other software related to Public Safety and/or municipal/urban planning.

• Experience in designing lab exercises for SIMSI’s Risk Terrain Modelling (RTMDx) software.

• Experience in designing lab exercises for ThirdEye Data’s software SAFERA 7.

• Experience in designing lab exercises for Microsoft Excel and/or Power BI software suites.

• Proficiency in and application of OSINT tools within a geospatial and intelligence framework.

• Required ability to integrate GIS-generated materials into tactical public safety analyses and dashboards.

• Experience teaching at the graduate level, along with prior experience in course development and/or instruction in an online setting.

• Open to adopting pedagogical methods tailored to online adult learners.

• Familiarity with learning management systems, particularly Brightspace from Desire2Learn, would be advantageous.
