This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Generate innovative and impactful ideas for our clients and execute them with meticulous attention to detail.
• Manage media relations from the strategic phase to placement—creating media lists, crafting pitches, drafting press releases, op-eds, newsletters, and social media content—while monitoring coverage and analyzing the resulting data.
• Report directly to the Director of Communications and work collaboratively with fellow Strategists on a daily basis.
• Foster trusting, long-term relationships with clients that encourage annual contract renewals.
• Advise clients on optimal PR and digital media strategies while ensuring their voices are heard.
• Work independently—take ownership of your timelines, adhere to deadlines, and communicate proactively.
• Develop and execute tailored strategic PR plans that align with each client's objectives and available resources.
• Think strategically beyond conventional media relations to embrace nontraditional platforms and digital engagement opportunities.
• Establish and nurture media relationships at national, regional, and local levels.
• Pitch stories, monitor media coverage, track metrics, and regularly report on results.
• Create various content types: press releases, pitches, op-eds, LTEs, blogs, social media posts, and messaging.
• Prepare talking points and conduct media training for clients to equip them for interviews.
• Conceptualize and organize press conferences.
• Define and manage measurement models; convert analytics into actionable insights.
• Collaborate with strategists to ensure all initiatives align with client objectives.
• Develop and secure new business for the company—this includes outreach, creating proposals, and achieving revenue targets shared by the strategist team.
• Minimum of 5 years of PR experience, with a strong focus on media relations, either in an agency or in-house setting.
• Must be based in Atlanta or the San Francisco Bay Area.
• Demonstrated success in securing stories in national and multicultural media related to social justice initiatives.
• Experience in a dynamic environment (such as an agency, political campaign, or newsroom).
• Background in health equity, racial justice, or advocacy is preferred.
• A strategic thinker who comprehends how PR can build audiences and motivate them to take action.
• High emotional intelligence; adept at recognizing client concerns and fostering long-term trust.
• Excellent writing skills—capable of producing press releases, op-eds, pitches, social media content, and newsletters.
• Strong analytical abilities; able to interpret data and translate it into actionable steps.
• Comfortable in fully remote work environments; proficiency in Asana, Slack, and Google Workspace is required.
• Multilingual candidates, particularly those fluent in Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, or Vietnamese, are preferred.
