This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Perform analysis and interpretation of data utilizing SAS.
• Input variable definitions for survey questionnaires, including variable names, range labels, default values, and question strings.
• Create data retrievals and summary outputs.
• Aid in the dissemination and reporting of data to stakeholders.
• Develop SAS programs to produce surveillance reports.
• Conduct routine data analysis and interpretation, including data entry, coding, and transcription.
• Design presentation graphics using MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
• Conduct literature searches and summarize the findings from the reviewed literature.
• Create SAS programs for data management and validation.
• Evaluate output from SAS programs to identify and rectify problems in data collection.
• Examine data error logs to ensure modifications are made in accordance with protocols.
• Identify errors or omissions concerning variable formats or labels.
• Document issues and suggest corrections prior to finalizing the dataset.
• Assess the quality of weights as indicated.
• Record issues with the SAS program and recommend necessary corrections for finalizing data.
• Review SAS programs used to generate analysis variables for the cycle by comparing code with similar validated SAS code from previous cycles or other programmers, or by producing cross-tabulations of the variables that comprise the analysis variables.
• Integrate data from multiple sources into spreadsheets and ensure the quality of the resulting merge.
• Assist in developing data management processes and protocols.
• Contribute to the creation of thematic summaries.
• Bachelor's degree in health informatics, public health, statistics, or a related field with 6 years of experience, or a master's degree plus 2 years of experience, or a PhD.
• 2-3 years of experience generating SAS-based reports using various methods (e.g., PROC REPORT, PROC TABULATE) and exporting those reports to formats such as Microsoft Excel, PDF, and HTML.
• Proficiency in data manipulation and cleaning, as well as managing and validating datasets through a variety of SAS functions, formats/informats, macros, and procedures.
• Proven ability to work with multiple data sources to monitor and evaluate data quality, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Experience in conducting descriptive and basic inferential analyses and regression modeling (e.g., logistic or linear).
• Familiarity with maintaining datasets, codebooks, and analytic documentation.
• Experience in handling qualitative data (interviews, open-ended responses).
• Capability to create tables, figures, and summaries for reports.
• Strong communication skills for conveying analytic results clearly.
• Ability to adhere to established analytic plans and assist in the development of new analyses.
