This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee teams of engineers, designers, and drafters as they develop and adjust high voltage protection and control systems for utility companies.
• Guide and manage a team from the bidding or "pre-proposal" phase through to construction and the finalization of project as-builts, ensuring comprehensive oversight of all project lifecycles.
• Create project Scope of Work (SOW) documents, establish and maintain project timelines using Gantt chart tools like Microsoft Project, develop and monitor individual and portfolio-level project budgets, and guarantee that all expectations regarding project timelines and budgets are fulfilled to the satisfaction of both internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaise with Business Development, client representatives, and internal leadership concerning project progress, deadlines, modifications, and challenges to enable proactive project management.
• Collaborate closely with Client Success (Operations) to synchronize project timelines with resource requirements.
• Supervise and manage matrixed reporting teams to foster project advancement in conjunction with team supervisors and internal leadership.
• Work alongside each project team to procure necessary materials and provide essential procurement support for engineering initiatives.
• Present project financials and health metrics to the Operations Manager teams on a weekly basis to identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies.
• Offer leadership, guidance, mentorship, and training to project teams and staff members.
• Assist in the creation, adherence to, and negotiation of contracts with internal and external stakeholders.
• Facilitate discussions regarding project expectations to ensure that project leads (engineers) comprehend the project workflow, scheduling, and budget requirements necessary to achieve objectives.
• Strong organizational capabilities and systems, coupled with the capacity to comprehend, modify, and establish project workflows to guarantee team success.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of project finance and project control principles and best practices.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 25%, including but not limited to quarterly visits to Amped I HQ for strategic planning discussions.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a 4-year ABET-accredited university is mandatory.
• Project Management Certification or equivalent documented PM training is preferred.
• Experience in project management related to the design, procurement, and construction of Power Transmission and Distribution assets, particularly within substations, is required.
• Strongly preferred is experience in Protection & Controls engineering design to ensure a robust technical understanding of projects and workflows.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License is highly preferred, though not mandatory.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Project Manager for relay protection and control design of high voltage 12-500 kV substation projects is required.
