Proposal Technical Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create proposal content by compiling and integrating information related to project nature, objectives, outcomes, deliverables, implementation methods, timelines, staffing, budgets, performance standards, and evaluations.

• Ensure that the developed sections comply with solicitation requirements and incorporate strategies, winning themes, and differentiators.

• Collaborate with Business Units, the Proposal Manager, Subject Matter Experts, and Teaming Partners to gather necessary content for drafting persuasive proposal sections.

• Conduct interviews with SMEs, consultants, capture managers, and other proposal team members to gather information for proposals, then independently craft technically clear and persuasive proposal content.

• Provide insights on proposal content and suggest areas to emphasize or incorporate strengths and benefits to enhance responses.

• Organize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously under tight and shifting deadlines.

• Participate in daily stand-up meetings on active bids, detailing the status of the proposal sections for which the writer is accountable, and identify any issues or resource needs.

• Engage hands-on in all stages of the proposal development process, including gate reviews, win strategy discussions, win themes and differentiators, outlines and compliance matrices, color reviews, writing and editing, graphic design, desktop publishing, document production, and packaging and delivery.

• Contribute to strategy and solution sessions to develop winning approaches.

• Assist in the conceptualization and creation of proposal graphics as needed.

• Support the drafting and development of technical documents, past performance narratives, staffing plans, resume formatting, and management narratives for large-scale, complex, strategic proposals.

• Prepare past performance questionnaires for completion by customers.

• Assist with corporate writing and editing tasks as required (such as marketing materials, website content, etc.).

• Maintain and update SharePoint repositories with reusable content and previous writings.

• Ensure that proposal content is compliant with Section 508 requirements, when applicable.

• Perform other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 5+ years of experience in supporting federal proposal development (RFPs, RFIs).

• Proven track record of developing compliant, high-quality proposal content that aligns with solicitation requirements, winning strategies, and evaluation criteria.

• Strong experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Business Development, SMEs, and teaming partners to gather and synthesize technical content.

• Demonstrated ability to independently interview SMEs and convert complex technical concepts into clear, compelling written narratives.

• Experience in supporting full proposal lifecycle activities, including solutioning, content development, color reviews, editing, and final production.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight, shifting deadlines while independently conducting research.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools such as SharePoint.

• Strong editing, proofreading, and attention to detail skills, including adherence to compliance requirements and formatting standards.

• Ability to contribute to proposal graphics, outlines, and compliance matrices is preferred.
