This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the professional staff responsible for managing property claims within the designated unit by assigning new and transferred losses to team members, reviewing initial investigations, evaluations, settlement authorities, reserve recommendations, and more, while providing guidance and suggesting action plans.

• Contribute to the formulation of fundamental objectives, procedures, and operations of the branch; assess operating results against established benchmarks and take necessary actions to enhance performance and productivity.

• Assist in guiding the claims branch to reduce indemnity and expense impacts, ensure appropriate reserve levels, and implement claims objectives, policies, and procedures.

• Maintain performance metrics and compile reports for management concerning unit operations, production, and expenses as needed.

• Ensure that Property Claims professionals deliver exceptional customer service and directly resolve escalated customer service concerns.

• May review and authorize the use of vendors for investigative purposes to guarantee proper expense management is in place.

• Act as a representative of the Company and branch in dealings with consumers, government agencies, independent vendors, and agents.

• Screen files for potential coverage issues, fraudulent or inflated claims, or suspicious activities, transferring files to the appropriate department for further investigation when necessary.

• Evaluate the quality of team members' work and customer service interactions by conducting ride-alongs, sit-alongs, and file reviews.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

• Ability to obtain state-specific property claims licensing, where applicable.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the property claims industry is preferred.

• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

• Previous experience in leading or working within a team is preferred.

• Must possess advanced proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word).

• Ability to accurately interpret estimates generated by commonly used industry software is required.

• Proficiency and experience in using virtual inspection and meeting tools are necessary.

• Acquire and apply in-depth technical knowledge of established Company policies, procedures, products, services, as well as Property Claims operations and insurance contracts, in an administrative/supervisory context.

• Make precise assessments of damage and reparability, leveraging strong technical and analytical skills.

• Assess the appropriateness of actions taken by claims personnel to settle claims while maintaining objectivity and consistency in evaluating claim files.

• Exercise independent judgment concerning staff and claims matters that can significantly impact the Company in terms of costs, consumer loyalty, team member relations, and legal challenges.

• Possess exemplary written and verbal communication skills with the ability to correspond effectively and professionally with staff, agents, insureds, attorneys, and others.

• Collaborate cordially with team members to achieve common objectives.

• Stay informed about industry changes, legal updates, and technical advancements related to first-party property claims.

• Effectively conduct training and act as a facilitator for staff when necessary.

• Inspire, oversee, and develop others in a career development and training capacity to maintain a knowledgeable and highly-qualified staff of Property Claims Professionals.

• Work independently in planning and developing departmental goals and objectives under management's guidance.

• Demonstrate critical attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and self-initiative to prioritize the daily needs of the property departments.
