This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Initiate prompt communication with policyholders and claimants.
• Perform thorough investigations into the causes and origins of significant property claims.
• Conduct interviews with insured parties, claimants, and other necessary individuals.
• Assess property damage, review information, create estimates, evaluate coverage, and negotiate settlements.
• Establish and maintain sufficient reserves.
• Ascertain the extent of property damage, liability, and overall claim value.
• Generate estimates and secure agreed-upon scopes of work and repair costs with contractors and/or policyholders.
• Determine claim values related to coverage.
• Identify steps needed to commence property-loss investigations.
• Engage outside experts and attorneys as necessary.
• Document claim files and prepare final closure reports.
• Assign and oversee independent adjusters when required.
• Provide guidance to claims adjusters regarding claim management.
• Facilitate training for field-office claims personnel.
• Participate in industry-related training to stay updated on legal developments and regulatory compliance.
• Foster relationships with local, state, and regional organizations and agencies.
• Coordinate Catastrophe Team operations at disaster sites.
• Ensure 24-hour availability for emergency claims services.
• Be prepared to travel on short notice to catastrophe locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks when necessary.
• High School Diploma or GED with five years of claims handling experience, with the possibility of substituting up to two years of equivalent experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree with three years of claims handling experience, with the possibility of substituting up to two years of equivalent experience.
• Proficient working knowledge of Windows software.
• Capability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory.
• Willingness to work under challenging conditions, including adverse weather and severely damaged structures.
• Availability for Catastrophe Team travel on short notice, potentially exceeding two consecutive weeks.
• 24-hour availability for emergency claims service.
• Appropriate license as mandated by state regulations.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Completion of Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) and AIC 35 is preferred.
• Ability to utilize required personal protective equipment.
• Capability to lift over 50 lbs using lifting-aid equipment.
• Ability to climb and access heights.
• Frequent driving capability.
• Ability to lift/move objects weighing 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs.
• Proficient in manual keying, data entry, and computer operation.
• Ability to push, pull, and move wheeled objects and equipment.
