This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Utilize independent judgment or discretion when managing property claims within the established authority.
• Oversee the designated territory and resolve assigned claims effectively.
• Communicate with policyholders regarding their property claims.
• Conduct thorough investigations, interview insured individuals and witnesses, assess damage, and prepare cost estimates.
• Assess coverage and provide recommendations pertaining to claims.
• Manage property claims that involve damages or coverage issues, including those that may lead to litigation.
• Establish and maintain appropriate reserves.
• Collect and review reports, statements, records, and related documentation.
• Analyze information to determine coverage and the overall value of claims.
• Make payment determinations and issue checks or decline payments as necessary.
• Maintain documentation of claim files and submit final reports for closure.
• Recognize subrogation opportunities and initiate the appropriate actions.
• Collaborate with agents and district sales managers.
• Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel when required.
• Cultivate and apply knowledge of estimating practices and procedures relevant to property claims.
• Attend training sessions related to the industry and other relevant topics.
• Participate in the Catastrophe Team as needed.
• Fulfill catastrophe duty, which may involve short-notice travel to various locations for more than two consecutive weeks.
• A High School Diploma or GED, along with two years of claims handling experience, or an equivalent combination is required.
• A High School Diploma or GED paired with successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education, or a Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Residency in the assigned territory is mandatory unless a change is authorized by the company.
• Ability to drive and travel frequently within the designated territory.
• Willingness to engage in and complete Technical Learning Center Training is required.
• Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 is preferred.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses is essential.
• A valid driver’s license and a positive driving record are required.
• Consistent and predictable attendance is mandatory.
• Capability to lift over 50 lbs with the assistance of lifting equipment.
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
• Must be available for catastrophe duty, including potential short-notice travel.
• Strong time management and organizational skills are preferred.
• Experience and qualifications may be considered for the Property Adjuster II position.
