This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver internal and external reports on the financial performance of a portfolio/property.
• Compile monthly financial statement packages for clients.
• This role encompasses the creation and posting of journal entries to the general ledger, managing fixed asset depreciation and amortization schedules, conducting a thorough review of the general ledger and income statement, performing bank statement reconciliations, and analyzing property manager variance comments along with balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure adherence to internal and external reporting deadlines.
• Maintain regular communication, both verbally and in writing, with the property management team and Property Manager(s) concerning accounting and financial data.
• Engage with clients as necessary regarding basic or intermediate matters.
• Involve a supervisor or manager for complex or advanced issues.
• Assist in the property budgeting process and prepare expense reconciliations through data review.
• Generate recurring and ad hoc reports and analyses as required.
• Prepare and file Sales & Use Tax returns, where applicable.
• Oversee and review the cash accounts for each project/property; ensure timely payments for utilities, taxes, mortgages, and owner distributions.
• Review and post cash receipts as necessary.
• Evaluate payables.
• Process vendor invoices for payment as needed.
• Ensure compliance with SOC I standards.
• Provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
• Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
• 2-4 years of relevant accounting/reporting experience.
• Analytical and accounting skills that align with experience level.
• Strong grasp of accounting principles.
• Outstanding communication abilities, both verbal and written.
• Capacity to listen and ask questions for clarity.
• Proficiency in engaging with clients and team members.
• Self-driven, capable of multitasking, and thriving in a deadline-focused environment.
• Initiative to resolve routine/intermediate issues and propose potential solutions to supervisors.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Familiarity with various accounting software; experience with Yardi and/or MRI is advantageous.
• Experience in full-cycle G/L accounting and the real estate industry is a plus.
