This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Act as a strategic ally to Property and Project Managers on matters of financial planning, reporting, operations, and related issues.
• Provide customer-focused service to all internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee accounting and financial reporting activities for all assets within the assigned portfolio of the Property Accountant.
• Function as the primary liaison with accounting and auditing firms.
• Attain proficiency in the company’s financial reporting software.
• Ensure timely closure of accounting records within the computer system.
• Prepare and submit monthly accounting reports for all properties.
• Organize accounting documentation, including paid invoices, financial reports, and bank reconciliation files.
• Conduct general audits and perform cleanup of accounting records as required.
• Generate monthly and year-end financial reporting packages for all properties and clients in the portfolio.
• Engage in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets for portfolio properties.
• Guarantee compliance with financial covenants at the property level.
• Keep an orderly and updated task list.
• Exhibit responsiveness and a strong sense of urgency.
• Contribute actively to team performance and consistently seek best practices for the accounting team.
• A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required, preferably in real estate development or property management.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience is required, ideally in a leadership capacity.
• A college degree is preferred.
• Strong foundational accounting skills and knowledge are essential.
• Experience with accounting software is required; familiarity with property management software like AppFolio is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel) as well as PDF software.
• Outstanding organization, prioritization, and time management abilities.
• Highly effective and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strict compliance with company handbook policies is required.
• Strong collaboration abilities in a team environment.
• Capability to self-manage time and projects to meet deadlines, often while working independently.
• Extensive customer service experience and a genuine passion for delivering quality service.
• Ability to perform tasks quickly and, most importantly, accurately.
