This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee engineering initiatives, including the design of electrical systems, power system controls design and programming, preparing specifications, and commissioning efforts to fulfill the requirements of various microgrid and advanced SCADA projects.
• Create power distribution systems, which entails specifying and selecting equipment for power systems and communication systems.
• Generate electrical drawings, including one-line, three-line, communication, and wiring diagrams.
• Effectively document and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including writing reports and delivering summary presentations.
• Design control systems and logic, determining and implementing suitable control sequences.
• Offer appropriate technical guidance to engineers within project teams to ensure adherence to design standards and work practices.
• Develop settings and programming for microprocessor relays, microgrid controllers, and programmable logic controllers. Conduct testing and commissioning of software, communication systems, relays, and power systems (both on-site and through remote support).
• Interpret and apply industry standards and requirements, including NERC, FERC, IEEE, IEC standards, and regulations pertaining to international power markets.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field, along with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of SCADA systems and communication protocols, specifically Modbus and DNP3.
• Familiarity with codes and standards, including NEC, NESC, and other pertinent power system standards.
• Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Experience in commissioning power system projects.
• Background in electrical power generation, distribution, and/or microgrids.
• Understanding of substation IEDs.
• Proficient hands-on deburring skills with hardware; strong ability in system-level integration.
• Willingness to travel to project and/or customer sites up to 20% of the time, with occasional trips exceeding 7 days.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build meaningful relationships based on mutual trust and respect, effectively navigate and resolve conflicts, moderate behaviors, and encourage collaborative working relationships among diverse audiences.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation), with the ability to liaise with key stakeholders in both technical and non-technical roles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), with advanced Excel skills and experience using Power BI or a similar tool.
