This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee the comprehensive technical design, engineering, procurement, and construction of commercial and utility-scale solar projects.

• Supervise both internal and external engineering teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective systems that achieve safety, performance, and reliability objectives.

• Assess site parameters, interconnection studies, and customer loads to identify optimal system sizing and configuration.

• Perform detailed shading analysis, structural evaluations, and electrical reviews to guide equipment selection and layout decisions.

• Model proposed designs using PVsyst or similar software to forecast energy production and economic performance.

• Choose suitable technologies for project requirements, including modules, inverters, racking, and system balance components.

• Lead the engineering team in creating permit/construction drawing sets that comply with all applicable codes and client standards.

• Direct internal and external engineering resources to generate comprehensive construction drawing sets and documentation packages that satisfy relevant codes, client specifications, utility standards, and other criteria.

• Cultivate relationships with third-party engineering firms.

• Define electrical protection, monitoring, and control schemes to enhance grid stability and fulfill utility requirements.

• Develop equipment specifications, bills of materials, and detailed scopes of work for procurement and construction activities.

• Coordinate technical reviews and obtain permit approvals from relevant authorities.

• Review intricate civil, structural, and electrical engineering design packages to ensure alignment with Reactivate’s technical specifications.

• Stay informed on technological advancements and trends in PV modules, inverters, racking, and energy storage OEMs.

• Assist in advancing team initiatives, including safety, material/process template enhancements, standardization, and more.

• Provide technical oversight to contractors during system installations to ensure compliance with plans.

• Collaborate closely with EPC contractors throughout procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.

• Review shop drawings, inspect deliveries, and observe factory testing as necessary.

• Conduct punch list inspections, testing, and commissioning of completed systems prior to approval.

• Compile as-built drawings, operation manuals, warranty documents, and other project closeout materials.

• Engage in project construction by addressing contractor RFIs, participating in monthly construction meetings, and reviewing site QA/QC documentation.

• Perform site visits to facilitate site constructability assessments and support construction progress.


⛳️ Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial solar energy system design, preferably with new facility design.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; PE certification is preferred.

• Familiarity with the NEC code.

• NABCEP, PV Installation Professional Certification is an advantage.

• In-depth knowledge of solar plant equipment, including PV modules, racking systems, inverters, and electrical balance of plant.

• Proficiency with PVSyst, System Advisory Model (SAM) programs, AutoCAD, PVcase, ArcGIS, Helioscope, and Aurora Solar is beneficial.

• Experience in reviewing civil, structural, or electrical engineering design packages.

• Background in managing third-party due diligence studies and energy production estimates.

• Capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and manage deliverables effectively.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic environment with individuals from diverse interests and backgrounds.

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• Proficient in the Microsoft Windows Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Some travel may be required.
