This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas.
• Conducts comprehensive electrical engineering tasks encompassing power distribution, lighting, grounding, and the design of electrical systems for federal engineering and design initiatives.
• Develops electrical calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, project cost assessments, and bid-related materials in alignment with relevant federal standards, codes, and agency-specific guidelines.
• Independently carries out moderately complex electrical design projects, utilizing sound engineering judgment, problem-solving abilities, and risk management throughout the life cycle of the project.
• Acts as a technical intermediary among federal clients, contractors, vendors, and internal engineering teams to coordinate deliverables, address technical challenges, and facilitate project timelines.
• Synchronizes electrical design activities with multidisciplinary teams and Olsson project groups to guarantee integrated, constructible, and top-quality project outcomes.
• Collaborates closely with project managers to assist in project planning, cost management, procurement coordination, progress monitoring, and the communication of potential technical or scheduling challenges.
• Engages in site visits and inspections, offers technical support during installations, and aids in testing and commissioning activities to ensure electrical systems function as intended.
• Reviews, coordinates, and may provide guidance or mentorship to junior engineers and technical personnel.
• Contributes to quality assurance and quality control initiatives by conducting design reviews, field observations, and documenting design modifications, testing outcomes, and significant project milestones.
• Compiles clear and concise project reports and technical summaries for clients, stakeholders, and internal leadership as necessary.
• Travels and participates in project charrettes, design reviews, and value engineering workshops.
• Ensures all electrical designs and installations comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, relevant federal agency requirements, and environmental regulations.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• A valid Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
• At least 6 years of experience in electrical design, preferably with federal clients.
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and other pertinent design software.
• Thorough understanding of DoD, VA, and federal design standards and processes.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and federal stakeholders.
