Project Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct data analysis at the project level to assess project performance and deliver high-level insights regarding the financial condition of projects. Use these analyses to pinpoint potential performance challenges and inform the Regional Project Accounting Manager.

• Collaborate with the Project Manager to complete project setups, ensuring compliance with contract terms and the MBI Approval Authority Policy. Review the contract to grasp its terms concerning project type, scope of work, and invoicing conditions.

• Oversee and manage project maintenance within Oracle, as well as update budget and funding as required.

• Generate monthly reports for the Regional Project Accounting Manager, featuring detailed insights on project status that adhere to exception reporting and highlight projects with significant unbilled and unearned revenue.

• Actively engage in project performance evaluations and provide financial commentary on projects when applicable.

• Offer assistance and support for inquiries from Project Managers and/or Department Managers. These inquiries may involve financial data for proposals, pricing estimates throughout the project's lifecycle, support for the annual budget process, audit requests (both external and client), or special projects as directed by the Business Management Team.

• Monitor outstanding receivables and aid project managers in their collection efforts.

• Work with the Project Manager to identify any invoicing discrepancies and help develop a corrective action plan to resolve issues that impede timely payments.

• Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure that project revenue is recognized in accordance with company policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

• 0-3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a comparable role.

• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with effective interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively with Project Managers and Department Managers.

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.

• Familiarity with Oracle Project Accounting Modules at a beginner level (or an equivalent ERP system) is preferred.
