Professional Fee Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Responsible for accurately abstracting data into relevant client electronic medical record systems.

• Adhering to the Official ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Guidelines for Coding.

• Conducts data entry of required abstracted patient information into the client’s information system.

• Engages with physicians for queries when appropriate and collaborates with Clinical Documentation staff as per account requirements.

• Maintains a consistent coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher while also achieving productivity standards.

• Assigns the correct ICD-10-CM, E/M, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers to professional fee accounts according to designated workflow.

• Abstracts and inputs coded data and/or charges for physician statistical and reporting needs.

• May assign or validate the professional fee level of service based on either 95 or 97 Evaluation and Management Guidelines.

• Queries physicians to clarify any conflicting, imprecise, incomplete, ambiguous, and/or inconsistent clinical information when necessary.

• Communicates opportunities for documentation improvement and coding issues to the appropriate personnel for follow-up and resolution.

• Coordinates with Clinical Documentation Improvement and/or Revenue Cycle teams for follow-up and reconciliation of accounts.

• Upholds the required productivity and quality standards.

• Maintains necessary coding credential requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidate must hold an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential.

• A minimum of 3 years of multispecialty coding experience is required.

• Must possess E/M and Surgical experience.

• Experience in a children's hospital/pediatric setting is strongly preferred.
