Professional Engineer, P.E.

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Creative Design: Conceive safe and cost-effective structures that meet project specifications while complying with industry codes and standards. Each project presents its own challenges!

• Technical Analysis: Leverage our proprietary software for analyzing frames, secondary structures, bracing, cranes, mezzanines, and panels to guarantee structural integrity and performance.

• Collaborative Approach: Partner closely with the Detailing Department and other team members to effectively convey design requirements and ensure smooth project execution.

• Oversight: Review and verify the accuracy of structural drawings.

• Continuous Learning: Seize opportunities for professional growth and development as an engineer, collaborating with various teams throughout the division to discover innovative solutions and explore unique career paths within our organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering/Architectural Engineering from an ABET Accredited institution.

• Proficient in both verbal and written communication in English.

• Strong understanding of structural building codes: IBC, AISC 360, AISC 341, AISC 358, ASCE7, AISI, etc.

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in the United States, with the capability to obtain licenses in additional states as necessary.

• Must reside within the continental United States, with availability as follows: - Minimum of 8 consecutive hours - Available from 9 am to 3 pm CST.

• Willingness to travel to home division or job sites as required. (<10% travel)

• Candidates must possess legal authorization to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor visa requests now or in the future).

• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Engineering within the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Industry.

• Familiarity with various metal building design software packages.

• Residing in the Midwest is preferred.
