
Professional Coding Specialist II – Interventional Radiology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review surgical documentation and accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier codes for intricate interventional radiology and surgical procedures.
• Implement national coding standards, as well as AMA and CMS conventions, CCI/MUE edits, LCDs, and NCDs.
• Work collaboratively with relevant personnel and physicians to address documentation deficiencies and expedite account resolution.
• Code and/or audit complex surgical procedures within designated specialty areas.
• Analyze medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures that influence inpatient stays and outpatient encounters.
• Ensure quality and timely coding, charging, and abstraction of assigned accounts.
• Enhance and maintain coding expertise through quality reviews, clinical in-services, seminars, meetings, reference materials, and updates to coding manuals.
• Examine data for the accurate and timely preparation of clean bills.
• Reach out to physicians and other personnel to gather necessary information for precise coding and facilitate billing processes.
• Monitor provider documentation, conduct coding audits, and offer provider education as required.
• Support Revenue Cycle Operations in claim development and resolving problem patient accounts.
• Investigate reimbursement details to address missing charges and problematic accounts.
• Engage with providers to enhance correct coding initiatives and maintain proficiency in coding and sequencing guidelines.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Current HIM/Coding Certification through AHIMA or AAPC.
• Must obtain Specialty Medical Coding Certification through AAPC within one year of hire.
• Minimum of three years of medical coding experience, including at least one year in advanced surgical coding.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Capability to maintain focus and accuracy amid constant interruptions.
• Independent decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in prioritizing tasks and managing high-stress environments.
• Ability to adapt to changes in the workplace and organize assigned tasks effectively.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to meet established quality and productivity benchmarks.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, utilize computer and office equipment, and lift, push, or pull 10–20 pounds.
• AAPC or AHIMA certification is required.
