This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Conduct diagnosis coding for inpatient, outpatient, and physician office medical records in accordance with Risk Adjustment/Medicare Part C standards.
• Execute intake validity checks on each medical record received.
• Confirm acceptable physician specialties, relevant service dates, physician/practitioner signatures, and submitted attestations.
• Document all processing information in the system following contract and organizational protocols.
• Analyze feedback from Senior Coders to enhance accuracy and quality.
• Accurately input data into the encoder, system, and other necessary software.
• Adhere to established processes and procedures.
• Report any unique record or process issues to the Project Lead, Project Manager, or Project Director.
• Ensure the security and confidentiality of medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Achieve or surpass the productivity and accuracy standards set by the customer/company, with a minimum IRR of 95%.
• Comply with company attendance policies.
• Engage appropriately with peers, coworkers, contractors, and customers when needed.
• Foster a positive team spirit.
• Carry out other assigned duties and projects.
• At least one (1) year of experience in coding general acute hospital (inpatient and outpatient, non-internship) and/or multi-specialty physician office medical records using ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM coding standards.
• Must hold a coding certification from a recognized credentialing body (AAPC, AHIMA).
• Accepted certifications include: CPC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT.
• CRC certification is an advantage.
• Preferred experience in abstracting and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding.
• Preferred experience in Risk Adjustment Data Validation or CMS-HCC audits.
• Experience in conducting medical record coding audits, including complex medical record abstraction.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of focus.
• Must demonstrate consistency, speed, and accuracy in tasks.
• Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting physician documentation.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally.
• Must work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
• Must uphold confidentiality and integrity.
