Professional Coding and Documentation Improvement Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Facilitates compliant physician coding and documentation to ensure accurate assignment of diagnosis, E&M, and CPT codes.

• Conducts ongoing monitoring of medical record documentation to guarantee compliance with all industry guidelines, laws, and regulations.

• Provides feedback and education to providers on appropriate documentation to support code level selections.

• Identifies and communicates recurring areas for improvement in coding and documentation to leadership for review and action.

• Reviews and addresses requests for education related to coding and documentation.

• Supports proactive initiatives for documentation improvement within Capital Health Medical Group (CHMG).

⛳️ Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Associate's degree in health information management is preferred.

• Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P) is required.

• A minimum of two years of experience in a professional coding role.

• Experience in monitoring and education is preferred.

• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, CM, and HCPCS coding.

• Strong understanding of pathophysiology and disease processes.

• In-depth knowledge of industry guidelines and laws related to physician coding and reimbursement.

• Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Familiarity with Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, or Pathophysiology.

• Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently.
