This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver coding and abstracting services for physician and facility medical records utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems.
• Examine medical records to pinpoint relevant diagnoses and procedures.
• Choose principal and supplementary diagnoses and procedures based on UHDDS definitions.
• Guarantee accurate DRG assignment.
• Abstract data from medical records in accordance with client guidelines.
• Achieve productivity and quality performance standards.
• Input coded charts in real time during the scheduled shift.
• Seek physician clarification for any unclear or contradictory documentation.
• Engage in team meetings and mandatory training sessions.
• Provide training or shadowing for other coders upon request.
• Collaborate with multiple clients to fulfill necessary classification hours.
• Participate in Coding Roundtables by presenting on coding and Health Information Management topics.
• Stay updated on Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
• Complete designated educational modules.
• Ensure coding credentials are current and active.
• Maintain effective professional communication and enhance the company's positive image.
• Possession of CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA credential is mandatory.
• At least 3 years of relevant coding experience is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of coding experience in Profee and Facility Ophthalmology charts.
• Proficient in coding Clinic E&M, diagnosis codes, and CPTs.
• Experience in coding both profee-PB and facility-HB ophthalmology charts is essential.
• Epic with 3M 360 experience is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
• Extensive familiarity with ICD-10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding principles and guidelines.
• Understanding of reimbursement systems, as well as federal, state, and payor-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies.
• Must successfully pass a coding proficiency assessment.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
• High level of coding accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Capacity to work for extended periods at a computer while remaining seated.
• Must keep coding credentials up to date and active.
