Profee Coding Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate medical records and assign accurate codes to ensure coding aligns with client requirements (CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10 procedures, ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 PCS, HCPCS).

• Perform data quality assessments of records to verify adherence to official coding and documentation standards.

• Engage in professional communication with colleagues, management, and hospital personnel concerning clinical and reimbursement matters.

• Exhibit strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Recognize opportunities for documentation enhancements and identify coding discrepancies.

• Utilize VPN access to facilitate efficient and flexible task execution.

• Adhere to Datavant and HIM Division policies, fostering a culture of compliance and operational effectiveness.

• Monitor continuing education credits to uphold a high level of professional competence.

• Participate in mandatory sponsored training and educational sessions, ensuring alignment with industry best practices for ongoing improvement.

• Comply with the American Health Information Management Association's code of ethics, maintaining professional standards and integrity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 1 year of coding experience.

• AHIMA certified credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certified credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC).

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in remote work, and outstanding time management capabilities.

• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software.

• Must complete and pass the annual Introductory HIPAA examination along with other designated assessments required each year.
