This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Evaluate, price, and oversee renewal business (multi-line focusing on general liability and property) in line with company policies.

• Choose, price, quote, and decline new business in accordance with company underwriting standards and informed underwriting judgment.

• Manage the assigned territory to align with the growth and profitability goals set by the business unit.

• Develop strategic agency management plans that include production, loss ratios, as well as travel and marketing strategies.

• Address endorsement requests from current accounts.

• Ensure a 24-hour response time for new business submissions and provide same-day responses to phone calls and emails.

• Collaborate with fellow Underwriters in the Unit to maintain a 24-hour response time for new submissions.

• Travel 10-25% of the time to meet with assigned agents.

• Build and sustain collaborative business relationships with appointed agents to encourage the generation of profitable business.

• Hold accountability for the production and loss ratio outcomes of assigned agents.

• Educate agents on Penn-America Group products and underwriting systems.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of Property and Casualty Underwriting experience is necessary, including knowledge in general liability and property risks; experience in underwriting Excess and Surplus lines is preferred.

• A Bachelor’s degree or a comparable combination of education and experience is required.

• Professional designations (CPCU, AU, ETC.) are advantageous.

• Experience working with wholesale brokers is preferred.

• The ability to effectively plan and manage agency visits and travel time is essential.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are required; the capacity to market Penn-America products to agents is crucial.

• Strong analytical skills are required.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills are essential.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with other underwriters is needed.

• Experience in insurance rating is a plus.

• Strong computer skills are essential, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
