This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of a well-organized and prioritized backlog for the Case & Notifications teams, ensuring that user stories are always prepared for upcoming sprints.
• Craft clear and comprehensive user stories, acceptance criteria, and edge-case definitions that equip engineers with the necessary information to build confidently.
• Collaborate with engineering leads to schedule work in a manner that manages dependencies, mitigates risks, and optimizes delivery efficiency.
• Monitor sprint commitments, identify blockers early, and drive their resolution to ensure consistent achievement of sprint goals.
• Interpret prioritized product direction from Product Management into detailed, implementation-ready requirements.
• Lead regular refinement sessions with engineers to address technical queries and eliminate ambiguity before work commences.
• Maintain traceability between overarching product goals and individual tickets, ensuring the team comprehends the rationale behind each task.
• Record decisions, assumptions, and out-of-scope items to avoid scope creep and minimize rework.
• Facilitate and engage in sprint ceremonies - including planning, daily stand-up, review, and retrospective - to ensure they are productive and focused on outcomes.
• Observe sprint health in real-time and proactively adjust scope when unforeseen complexities or blockers emerge.
• Guarantee that released features align with the acceptance criteria established during story creation.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison between the Case & Notifications teams and other related teams, such as Customer Success and Operations.
• Participate in broader product planning forums, providing insights from the execution perspective of the squad.
• Define and monitor squad-level delivery metrics (cycle time, defect escape rate, sprint goal achievement) and utilize them to drive targeted enhancements.
• 3-5+ years of professional experience in a Product Owner role.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Demonstrated experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role focused on execution within a software R&D team.
• Strong grasp of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) with practical experience in conducting sprint ceremonies.
• Exceptional ability to write clear, precise user stories and acceptance criteria that engineering teams can act on immediately.
• Proven capability in deconstructing large product initiatives into well-organized, sprint-ready backlog items.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between product strategy and engineering implementation language.
• Experience in a healthcare or safety-focused technology product environment is a plus.
