This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Define and uphold the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for underwriting and rating platforms.
• Collaborate with underwriting leadership and business stakeholders to ensure product direction is aligned with organizational objectives.
• Identify opportunities to enhance underwriting workflows, improve rating precision, and drive business value.
• Balance competing priorities to optimize product impact and return on investment (ROI).
• Elicit, analyze, and document both business and system requirements for new initiatives and enhancements.
• Transform complex business needs into user stories, process flows, and functional specifications.
• Establish clear acceptance criteria to guarantee alignment between business expectations and delivered solutions.
• Develop and advocate for best practices in requirements management and documentation.
• Own and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, data insights, and technical factors.
• Work in collaboration with Agile teams to ensure stories are well-defined, understood, and ready for development.
• Lead or assist in Agile ceremonies including PI planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
• Monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality features.
• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, underwriting teams, and technical delivery teams.
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions to gather input, build consensus, and address issues.
• Partner with architects and engineers to ensure solutions are scalable, integrated, and conform to enterprise standards.
• Effectively communicate product updates, priorities, and risks to stakeholders and leadership.
• Ensure solutions meet business needs through strong validation practices and acceptance testing.
• Support and engage in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Continuously refine requirements and solutions based on stakeholder feedback and outcomes.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
• Identify and implement enhancements to underwriting processes, systems, and user experience.
• Advocate for Agile and continuous improvement practices across teams.
• 5–7+ years of experience in Product Management, Business Analysis, or related roles, preferably within the insurance technology sector.
• Strong grasp of insurance underwriting, rating methodologies, and the policy lifecycle.
• Experience working within Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban).
• Proficient with Azure DevOps, JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or similar tools.
• Proven ability to translate business needs into product requirements and deliver solutions end-to-end.
• Familiarity with integrations, APIs, and data flows.
• Demonstrated experience in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills.
