Product Owner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the product manager to implement the roadmap for AP integration, wire transfer, and transactional banking features by converting prioritized initiatives into actionable backlog items, technical requirement dependencies, and delivery strategies that align with enterprise OKRs, regulatory standards, security protocols, customer connectivity demands, and platform strategy.

• Work in partnership with business, operations, compliance, treasury, client-facing teams, and technology stakeholders to comprehend business objectives and client requirements.

• Convert business challenges and client integration needs into concise product specifications, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria.

• Engage with customers and team members to collect feedback, enhance understanding, and support delivery objectives.

• Relay delivery updates, risks, and trade-offs to executives, stakeholders, and technical teams.

• Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, architecture, security, and operations teams to provide scalable, secure, reliable, and well-documented API-based banking functionalities that meet customer integration requirements and align with enterprise platform standards.

• Exhibit knowledge of REST APIs, API specifications, request and response payloads, authentication, authorization, error handling, status codes, idempotency, versioning, and integration dependencies.

• Assist in prioritizing enhancements that boost transaction visibility, processing accuracy, resilience, compliance, and overall customer experience.

• Develop, maintain, prioritize, and refine the product backlog, which includes features, user stories, defects, technical enablers, production issues, and technical debt.

• Break down feature items into actionable user stories complete with clear, testable acceptance criteria.

• Ensure sprint objectives are clearly defined and aligned with business and technical priorities.

• Oversee feature delivery from discovery through requirements gathering, development, testing, acceptance, release, production validation, and post-release analysis.

• Collect feedback from API consumers, implementation teams, support teams, and business stakeholders to continuously enhance API usability and product capabilities.

• Keep track of vendor release calendars, technical updates, release notes, enhancements, defects, and new platform functionalities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field.

• 4+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or a similar position in an Agile setting.

• Experience collaborating with highly technical software engineering teams on APIs, integrations, transactional systems, or enterprise platforms.

• Familiarity with REST APIs, API contracts, endpoints, request/response formats, JSON, authentication/authorization principles, error handling, status codes, versioning, and API documentation.

• Proven experience in translating business and client requirements into technical specifications, user stories, process flows, and testable acceptance criteria.

• Strong understanding of transactional workflows, including initiation, validation, approval, status tracking, exception handling, reconciliation, and auditability.

• Capability to convey technical concepts to business stakeholders and contextual business information to technical teams.

• Proficiency with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools for backlog and product management.

• Strong analytical, prioritization, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

• Additional qualifications that would contribute to success in this role include: Experience in banking, payments, wire transfers, ACH, real-time payments; familiarity with API tools such as Bruno, Postman, API documentation platforms, or developer portals; knowledge of AI-enabled tools that aid in product discovery, documentation, analysis, or delivery workflows; understanding of security, compliance, and control concepts such as encryption, token-based authentication, audit logs, fraud controls, maker-checker workflows, and role-based access; experience in supporting external customer integrations, partner integrations, or developer-facing API products; certifications such as CSPO, SAFe POPM, or PSPO.
