This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
β’ Take full ownership of your product surface from start to finish β determining what gets developed, the timeline for release, and how it meets the needs of your users or client teams, with complete accountability for scope, priorities, and quality.
β’ Create engineering-ready specifications for all features β encompassing comprehensive user flows, visual designs, data requirements, edge cases, and acceptance criteria β utilizing AI tools as a fundamental component of your workflow; engineering will build directly from your specifications, ensuring clarity regarding the desired experience.
β’ Make priority decisions and justify them β customer success, sales, and leadership will present you with requests; you will determine which requests are included in the roadmap and which are not, providing clear reasoning and maintaining transparent communication.
β’ Maintain a thorough understanding of your customers β whether they are law enforcement practitioners, agency administrators, internal platform users, or data science teams β through direct engagement, user research, and continuous relationship-building.
β’ Conduct or commission user research as necessary β including interviews, usability testing, workflow observations, and product analytics reviews β and engage internal subject matter experts to ground product decisions in concrete evidence rather than assumptions.
β’ Collaborate directly with your engineering counterpart as part of a trio; provide clarity on what to build and why while they clarify how to build it and assess feasibility.
β’ Manage post-launch adoption and feedback β promote new features, train internal teams, monitor feature adoption, collect user feedback, maintain documentation, and iterate based on actual usage rather than simply handing off after launch.
β’ Assist in enterprise sales discussions with in-depth product and domain knowledge when necessary β not just feature lists, but the depth that instills customer confidence.
β’ Utilize AI tools and technologies in all facets of your work β including research, specification, design, analysis, prototyping, and documentation.
β’ 5+ years of professional experience in product management, technical product management, engineering, design, or a similar role where you were responsible for both the "what" and the "how" of a product or technical surface.
β’ Proven ability to generate engineering-ready specifications β not merely PRDs or user stories, but comprehensive specifications that include visual designs, user flows, data requirements, and acceptance criteria that engineering can directly build from.
β’ Proficiency with AI-assisted workflows; you currently leverage AI tools daily in your professional activities and can demonstrate how they enhance your productivity and improve the quality of your work.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills; your writing is clear enough that engineers can build from your documents and customers or stakeholders can comprehend your roadmap.
β’ Experience collaborating directly with engineering teams in an agile or continuous-delivery setting as a true partner, rather than just a source of requirements.
β’ Strong analytical and quantitative abilities β you think in terms of evidence, trade-offs, and measurable outcomes; you use data to frame problems, assess options, and justify decisions.
β’ Ability to synthesize information from various sources β including customer feedback, user research, internal expertise, data, and competitive context β into clear product direction and actionable plans.
β’ Comfort with ambiguity and incomplete information; you make decisions based on available data rather than waiting for complete certainty.
β’ Bachelorβs degree or equivalent professional experience in a software development environment.
β’ An intellectually curious self-starter who proactively identifies problems and opportunities without needing to be prompted.
β’ Unlimited Paid Time Off.
β’ Opportunity to work in a fully remote setting (must be based in the U.S. and willing to operate in the Central Time Zone).
β’ Summer Half-Day Fridays.
β’ Freed Up Fridays during Spring, Fall, and Winter months to enhance productivity and provide dedicated focus time.
β’ Medical, dental, and vision plan offerings in addition to 401(k).
β’ Employer-paid Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance.
β’ Additional Voluntary Benefits include extra Life Insurance, Spouse Life Insurance, and Accident Insurance.
β’ The fulfillment that comes from being part of a solution with a real-world impact.
β’ A diverse workforce and inclusive environment that values unique contributions and experiences.
β’ An empowered culture that fosters creativity and professional development.
