This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the Product Discovery & Scoping Process.
• Collaborate with relevant aiEDU leaders and stakeholders to establish the product vision and roadmap.
• Identify the problem space, reveal constraints, and document existing pain points.
• Perform stakeholder interviews, user testing, and other research to inform product development and prioritize features.
• Convert requirements into a phased roadmap with distinct milestones.
• Work alongside our VP of Operations to recognize and address pertinent security, safety, privacy, and legal issues.
• Create and uphold a product requirements document (PRD) or its equivalent.
• Manage the product development from start to finish within a 2-3 month timeframe, coordinating with aiEDU stakeholders to ensure alignment. Ideally, you should be able to achieve 90% of the product yourself and then collaborate with a contracted engineer to prepare the product for full deployment.
• Establish evaluation criteria and product analytics aligned with aiEDU's mission and operational needs; assess and refine the product as necessary.
• Mentor and enhance the skills of aiEDU’s staff throughout the engagement, sharing best practices for product development and creating documentation, templates, and frameworks for future product initiatives.
• Assist our Operations team in advancing aiEDU’s internal AI readiness, providing relevant advice on AI-assisted product development, AI-enhanced workflows, and the shared infrastructure needed to elevate our work.
• Over 5 years of product management experience, including leadership in 0→1 projects. Proven ability to transform ambiguous ideas into clear product requirements, prototypes, delivery plans, and launch strategies.
• A proficient AI power user, incorporating AI in every phase of product development and evaluation.
• Extensive knowledge in UI/UX front-end development.
• Technical proficiency, with experience in authentication, data infrastructure, and considerations of security and privacy. Capable of defining clear technical requirements and collaborating with contracted engineers for delivery.
• Proven track record in conducting discovery processes and user testing. Strong empathy for educators, students, nonprofit teams, and partners.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with robust documentation practices.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills—you can drive a cross-functional process without formal authority.
• Genuine passion for mentorship; comfortable explaining your process while executing it.
• Background in K-12 education, educator professional development, curriculum, or student-facing technology, including addressing privacy, safety, and equity concerns.
• Familiarity with curriculum or learning operations workflows.
• Experience with tools commonly utilized in EdTech or content management (e.g., Clever, Google for Education) as well as Airtable.
• This position is for an independent contractor and is not eligible for benefits.
