• Establish and uphold Astra's API contract philosophy, including versioning strategies, standards for backwards compatibility, deprecation policies, and principles of schema design.
• Create comprehensive platform specifications that engineering can utilize: thorough, aware of edge cases, and rooted in real customer building practices.
• Manage the platform roadmap by balancing foundational investments (such as authentication, observability, and extensibility) with features that are customer-facing and reliability initiatives.
• Conduct technical explorations with Astra's most advanced customers to uncover gaps in the platform and identify needs for extensibility.
• Collaborate with engineering to evaluate API designs, uphold developer ergonomics standards, and ensure high platform quality.
• Partner with solutions and implementation teams to identify customer pain points, barriers, or workarounds, and translate these insights into platform requirements.
• Lead the developer experience roadmap in collaboration with documentation, solutions engineering, and DevRel functions as they evolve.
• Advocate for platform strategy during customer interactions, partnership negotiations, and technical due diligence processes.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in product management, including at least 3 years focused on developing developer-facing platforms or API products within a technical infrastructure company.
• In-depth knowledge of API design—encompassing REST, webhooks, and event-driven architecture—with strong perspectives on what constitutes a great platform for development.
• Proven experience managing a platform roadmap that includes authentication, configuration, extensibility, and observability layers.
• A solid understanding of how infrastructure companies create lock-in through developer experience, beyond mere features.
• Ability to reason through systems-level trade-offs: such as latency versus consistency, configurability versus complexity, and generality versus opinionation.
• Demonstrated success operating as a principal-level individual contributor, establishing direction, influencing without direct authority, and driving results across engineering and go-to-market teams.
• Outstanding written communication skills; capable of producing a platform specification that serves as both a product document and a technical contract.
• Familiarity with payments is advantageous but not mandatory; however, a genuine curiosity regarding the movement of money is essential.
• Competitive salary with equity in a growing fintech company.
• Remote-first culture with flexible work arrangements.
• Small team with a significant impact—your contributions directly support Astra’s responsible scaling.
• Opportunities for professional development in compliance and risk management.
• Mission-driven role—contribute to building infrastructure that facilitates financial innovation while adhering to the highest regulatory standards.
