This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Serve as a reliable legal advisor and essential collaborator for our Product, Engineering, and R&D teams, offering legal and regulatory compliance support from the early phases of SaaS product development to global launch, while assisting in identifying and proactively addressing risks.
• Perform thorough legal risk evaluations for new and existing products and features, including the assessment of privacy, security, and intellectual property risks.
• Provide guidance on the legal and regulatory frameworks applicable to global cybersecurity and SaaS products, including data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), export control obligations, open source considerations, and emerging AI-specific legislation.
• Prepare, review, and negotiate a diverse array of product-related legal documents, such as vendor and integration agreements, evaluation agreements, terms of service, acceptable use policies, and privacy policies.
• Keep abreast of changing global legal and regulatory trends in technology and cybersecurity, assisting in the formulation of company policies to ensure continuous compliance.
• Facilitate education and training for internal business partners on legal and regulatory obligations and best practices.
• Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks to support internal stakeholders and enhance processes for executing the company's strategies.
• Juris doctorate from an accredited law school; admission to at least one U.S. state bar.
• Over four (4+) years of relevant legal experience, including a background in an in-house product counsel position (ideally supporting a high-growth SaaS/technology company); proven history of professional excellence.
• Strong technical knowledge of SaaS platform products and the cybersecurity sector.
• Proficiency in data privacy and protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, export control regulations, and other global frameworks. Familiarity with intellectual property law, open-source software licensing, and AI-related regulations.
• Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements.
• Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the capability to work across functions and geographically dispersed teams with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong business judgment with the capacity to provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice to both legal and non-legal audiences. A strategic thinker who can independently navigate issues, assess risks and options, and make sound judgments even amid uncertainty.
• Documented ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rapidly scaling global environment. Highly organized, attentive to detail, capable of working independently, and adept at managing and completing several simultaneous projects in a team-oriented setting.
