This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Designs and conceptualizes system architecture, flow diagrams, and piping/instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for nuclear facilities, auxiliary systems, or fuel cycle models.
• Conducts thorough evaluations to guarantee that systems, structures, and components uphold chemical safety, criticality controls, radiation shielding, and defense-in-depth principles under both normal and abnormal conditions, including accident scenarios.
• Ensures that all engineering designs are compliant with local, state, and federal standards, including DOE or NRC regulations.
• Selects, tests, and specifies mechanical components, valves, and vessels to ensure their durability in highly regulated and hazardous environments.
• Analyzes test or validation data to enhance the efficiency of existing nuclear facilities.
• Produces essential design deliverables such as Process drawings, Process Flow Diagrams, and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams/Engineering Flow Diagrams.
• Prepares, reviews, and/or approves calculations including mass, energy, and flow balances, as well as pipe and equipment sizing.
• Composes engineering documents such as specifications for process equipment.
• Ensures that design deliverables meet high standards and comply with relevant regulations, standards, and customer-specific requirements, including nuclear quality assurance standards.
• Verifies that design consultants and sub-contractors employ suitably qualified and experienced personnel.
• Generates documentation that is technically precise, grammatically correct, properly formatted, and professionally presented.
• Develops solutions to technical challenges and ensures that necessary change control is executed.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of two (2) years of post-baccalaureate experience.
• Previous experience providing engineering support for nuclear facility design, construction, or operations.
• Excellent communication skills in a complex, multi-tiered environment.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of key NRC regulations, design codes, and standards for commercial nuclear facilities is required.
• Familiarity with related design software codes, including process simulation software.
• Professional Engineering (PE) License is preferred.
