This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Drive the strategic development and expansion of the Water/Wastewater practice throughout California, including formulating annual growth strategies, staffing plans, market outreach, and operational management.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with municipal, utility, industrial, and private-sector clients.
• Achieve annual net revenue exceeding $750,000 through client engagement, project initiatives, and strategic business development efforts.
• Lead key pursuits, proposals, client presentations, interviews, and contract negotiations.
• Provide executive oversight and technical direction for water, wastewater, recycled water, and stormwater projects from the planning and design phases through to construction.
• Act as a senior technical expert in hydraulic modeling, condition and vulnerability assessments, asset management, capital improvement planning, conveyance systems, treatment facilities, and rehabilitation/retrofit projects.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering and technical professionals to foster the growth of the practice.
• Manage quality assurance for engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents.
• Represent the firm at industry organizations, conferences, professional associations, and other strategic venues.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on long-term business strategies, financial performance, staffing, and market development.
• Over 15 years of progressively responsible experience in engineering consulting, with significant expertise in water, wastewater, stormwater, or utility infrastructure.
• At least 5 years of experience in leading or managing a practice, business line, regional operation, or similar organization.
• Active California Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
• Demonstrated success in client development, strategic growth initiatives, and revenue generation.
• Established relationships with California municipalities, utilities, industrial clients, and/or regulatory agencies.
• Proven capability in building and overseeing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience in leading complex infrastructure projects from planning and design stages through to construction.
• Expertise in one or more of the following domains: water supply, wastewater, recycled water, stormwater, infrastructure planning and design, utility operations technology, and rehabilitation/retrofit.
• Familiarity with CAD platforms, hydraulic modeling software, and infrastructure design applications.
• Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, and overall financial performance.
• An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, foster relationships, and create a sustainable practice.
• Must reside in Northern California or the Bay Area.
• Occasional travel throughout California is required.
• Competitive base salary ranging from $170,000 to $200,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
