This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Create and execute technology solutions utilizing contemporary engineering tools and Agile methodologies.
• Collaborate with self-directed, cross-functional, and product-focused teams in a highly interactive setting.
• Contribute to the delivery of some of the bank's key products and services while gaining skills and experience that extend beyond your initial role.
• Develop and sustain Newline's core RESTful API using Ruby on Rails.
• Partner with SREs to architect and implement our backend infrastructure using Terraform.
• Collaborate with the QA team to develop comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Engage in discussions about software architecture and participate in code reviews.
• Integrate our platform with the bank's core services and APIs.
• Aid in establishing best practices for data security and information security.
• Take part in sessions focused on API platform scaling and optimization.
• Create Newline's internal data pipeline and business intelligence tools.
• Implement and uphold new features and capabilities while consistently enhancing the quality of our technical products and services.
• Cultivate and share technical knowledge with your Agile team and other members of the organization.
• Adhere to industry and organizational best practices and standards, while engaging in company communities of practice to continuously improve and communicate them.
• Contribute to a culture focused on continuous improvement.
• Attain operational excellence through process automation and the creation of maintainable, supportable, and testable solutions.
• Stay informed about technology trends and innovations in your areas of expertise.
• Offer operational support and troubleshooting for your team's products and services.
• Maintain appropriate controls and documentation to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory standards.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and training for new or less experienced team members.
• Deliver leadership and guidance to your team in your areas of technical expertise.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Over eight years of engineering or IT work experience pertinent to the position.
• Previous experience in a technical or team leadership role.
• Required hands-on experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and ActiveRecord.
• Proficient in writing unit tests with RSpec.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
• Capability to build and utilize command line tools.
• Experience in an Agile software development environment.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments using Terraform is advantageous.
• Experience in developing high TPS API systems (~100 TPS) is a plus.
• Preferred experience in delivering highly available (99.99%) enterprise B2B SaaS products.
• Previous experience in a regulated financial environment is beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
• Eagerness to work in a highly collaborative atmosphere.
• Comprehensive understanding and significant experience with modern software development practices, tools, and/or hardware technologies.
