Principal Software Engineer, Platform Technology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Identify and implement strategic enhancements to platform architecture to boost performance and scalability.

• Investigate and validate new frameworks and concepts, translating them into engineering standards.

• Ensure architectural uniformity across various platforms (Web, TV, Consoles).

• Develop performance benchmarks, coding standards, and documentation to enhance developer efficiency.

• Cultivate a culture of technical curiosity and data-driven decision-making among senior and mid-level engineers.

• Sustain engineering partnerships with OEMs (Samsung, Sony, Roku, etc.) for performance optimization and technical certification.

• Lead in-depth, hands-on problem-solving and investigations into system performance or memory challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 10 years of professional SDE experience, particularly in building large-scale consumer-facing applications.

• Extensive expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Strong understanding of embedded web-based applications, device limitations, memory management, and rendering optimization.

• Profound knowledge of advanced rendering technologies such as WebGL or OpenGL.

• Proficient in performance profiling, debugging across various environments, and utilizing telemetry systems (New Relic, Datadog).

• Familiarity with modern CI/CD, version control, automated testing, and observability.

• In-depth understanding of Smart TV ecosystems (Tizen, WebOS, Roku) or multi-OEM environments.

• Knowledge of video playback technologies and playback-specific SDKs.

• Experience in building SDKs, shared libraries, or modular frameworks for code reuse.

• Expertise in GPU/Graphics profiling, shader tuning (GLSL/HLSL), texture optimization, and canvas-based rendering.

• Experience collaborating with UX/Design teams to translate visual concepts into high-fidelity, efficient production code.

• Experience documenting technical findings (ADRs) in Confluence and managing workstreams in JIRA.
