Principal Software Engineer – Identity Workflows

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary.

📋 Description

• Take charge of implementing identity and resource lifecycle workflows through scalable, dependable distributed systems that convert intent into accurate, consistent outcomes at scale.

• Design and advance distributed workflow systems (e.g., pipelines, queues, workers, transformation layers).

• Ensure the accuracy of asynchronous execution across retries, failures, and scenarios of partial completion.

• Establish and uphold standards for idempotency, ordering, and consistency within distributed workflows.

• Enhance throughput, parallelism, and overall system performance across extensive worker fleets.

• Boost reliability through effective retry strategies, backpressure management, and mechanisms for failure recovery.

• Define and oversee ordering and consistency assurances in distributed workflows where sequencing and dependencies are critical.

• Guarantee observability and diagnosability of workflows, including aspects like tracing, metrics, and runtime inspection.

• Identify high-impact opportunities for enhancing performance, reliability, and scalability in workflow systems.

• Lead the transition of legacy batch or monolithic processing into scalable, distributed execution models.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of software engineering experience with ownership of distributed or high-scale production systems.

• Strong backend development experience in Ruby, Node.js, or comparable technologies.

• Comprehensive understanding of APIs, distributed architectures, and software design principles.

• Experience in designing, constructing, and managing distributed, asynchronous systems.

• Proven experience in developing secure, reliable systems with rigorous testing practices across unit, integration, and service layers.

• Experience in building and managing services within AWS or similar cloud environments.

• Willingness to engage in a mandatory 24/7 on-call rotation.

• Experience with, or a strong interest in, AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor).
