Principal Software Engineer – Data Lakes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with product teams to grasp requirements and design innovative new features that directly benefit customers.

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain highly reliable, large-scale data lake systems alongside a dedicated data lake engineering team.

• Contribute to open-source initiatives such as DuckDB and Polaris.

• Adopt Fivetran innovations while adhering to open-source standards and tools.

• Evaluate fault-tolerance and high availability issues, performance, and scalability challenges, and address them effectively.

• Ensure operational excellence of services and fulfill commitments to customers concerning security, reliability, availability, and performance.

• Set technical direction and influence cross-functional teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of practical or research experience with high-performance relational data management systems.

• In-depth knowledge of infrastructure & software optimizations and performance engineering to achieve significant improvements in performance, latency, and availability.

• Proven history of leading and successfully delivering large and complex projects.

• Strong programming skills in Java and C++.

• Extensive experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Demonstrated expertise in columnar storage formats.
