Principal Software Engineer – Authentication, Access

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the accuracy, security, and uniformity of authentication and access systems throughout the platform.

• Define and enhance authentication workflows, authorization models, and session lifecycle protocols.

• Ensure the correctness and consistency of protocols (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, etc.).

• Establish and promote the adoption of standardized authentication and access patterns across teams, ensuring compliance with defined standards.

• Design and validate secure authentication workflows driven by state machines.

• Identify and address legacy or inconsistent authentication implementations.

• Lead the evolution and modernization of authentication systems while ensuring backward compatibility and accuracy.

• Enhance resilience and secure failure management across authentication flows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• Strong experience in backend development (Ruby, Node.js, or similar languages).

• Extensive knowledge of authentication and identity protocols (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, LDAP).

• Experience in designing intricate authentication flows and workflows driven by state machines.

• Skilled in building and managing authentication, authorization, and API-based services in distributed environments.

• Strong understanding of REST APIs, service contracts, and software design principles.

• Proven experience in creating secure, reliable systems with robust testing practices across unit, integration, and service layers.

• Experience in building and operating services in AWS or comparable cloud environments.
