This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Enhance the architecture of backend services and platform infrastructure while establishing a long-term architectural vision and technical standards across various teams.
• Set engineering standards that foster consistency, maintainability, reliability, and operational readiness.
• Scale distributed systems and optimize performance across core services.
• Elevate production engineering practices, focusing on observability, testing, incident response, and post-incident reviews.
• Identify and mitigate significant technical debt.
• Enhance developer tools, workflows, and overall engineering productivity.
• Assist teams in effectively utilizing agentic development tools throughout the stages of planning, implementation, testing, review, and validation.
• Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to create scalable, resilient systems, while simplifying architectures and minimizing organizational complexity as the platform expands.
• Mentor Senior and Staff engineers through architecture evaluations, technical coaching, and project guidance.
• Act as a reliable technical advisor for challenging engineering and architectural choices.
• Experience in a Principal Engineer, Architect, or senior Staff+ engineer role.
• Extensive background in designing and managing distributed systems in a production environment.
• Strong backend engineering proficiency, preferably in Go or a comparable language.
• Excellent architectural judgment and systems thinking, with the capability to simplify complex systems and make practical technical trade-offs.
• Proven experience leading intricate technical projects across various teams.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop senior engineers.
• Strong communication skills and technical leadership capabilities.
• Operational mindset focused on reliability, scalability, observability, and performance.
• Aptitude to balance long-term technical quality with practical execution.
• Comfort in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• A proactive approach towards ownership, execution, and providing technical clarity in uncertain situations.
• Practical experience with agentic or AI-assisted development tools in professional engineering workflows.
• Experience in implementing shared workflows, prompts, rules, coding agents, or internal tools that enhance engineering productivity.
• Sound judgment regarding when automation can provide leverage, how AI-assisted work should be evaluated, and when direct engineering oversight is essential.
