This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Develop and implement the long-term strategic vision for our Kubernetes platform across Google Kubernetes Engine, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, RKE2, and on-premise setups, ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational uniformity.
• Drive architectural choices across essential infrastructure, including cluster lifecycle management, networking, identity and access management, observability, autoscaling, capacity planning, and cost efficiency.
• Lead extensive platform projects involving multiple engineering teams, setting technical direction, engineering standards, and measurable outcomes that enhance platform reliability and improve the developer experience.
• Establish and refine reliability practices by defining service level objectives, service level indicators, and error budget frameworks that align platform performance with business goals.
• Create an automation-first infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code, GitOps workflows, self-healing systems, and internal platform tools that enhance engineering speed and lessen operational burdens.
• Advocate for the responsible integration of AI-driven engineering capabilities that boost operational efficiency, speed up incident response, and enhance developer productivity.
• Manage critical platform incidents, drive improvements post-incident, and enhance platform resilience through automation, capacity planning, and operational excellence.
• Mentor senior engineers, influence technical strategy organization-wide, and raise engineering standards through architecture reviews, coaching, and technical leadership.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in designing, operating, and scaling distributed cloud and on-premise infrastructure, with at least 3 years at the Staff, Principal, or equivalent technical leadership level.
• Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale infrastructure or platform initiatives that necessitate cross-functional collaboration and long-term technical stewardship.
• Profound expertise in Kubernetes, covering cluster architecture, networking, storage, security, operators, lifecycle management, and large-scale production operations.
• Significant experience in building and managing production infrastructure on AWS and Google Cloud Platform using Infrastructure as Code technologies like Terraform, Pulumi, or similar tools.
• Strong software development background in Go, Python, or both, with proficiency in GitOps, continuous integration and delivery, observability, distributed systems, Linux, and reliability engineering principles.
• Experience in integrating AI-driven tools into engineering workflows while exercising sound judgment regarding reliability, security, and operational risks.
• Outstanding communication and leadership abilities with a track record of mentoring engineers, influencing technical strategy, and fostering engineering excellence.
• Experience in regulated industries, hybrid cloud environments, contributing to open-source projects, or holding cloud certifications is preferred.
