Principal Product Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.

📋 Description

• You serve as the senior technical authority within a significant platform domain.

• You collaborate in crafting the platform strategy.

• You are responsible for making architectural decisions that other teams rely on.

• Working alongside the team, you design and manage shared services, identity foundations, developer tooling, and reliability standards that enhance every product team.

• You lead efforts to simplify processes, ensuring the platform becomes smaller, clearer, and increasingly automated over time.

• You conduct design reviews, acting as a second pair of eyes during evaluations across the organization.

• You hold 1:1 sessions with the engineers you mentor, as well as with your manager.

• You partner with engineers in product squads to tackle complex technical challenges.

• You will engage in extensive building tasks.

• You will document architecture decisions, design documents, and agentic prompts that will be utilized by the entire team, dedicating time to shared AI tooling that enhances the overall speed of the engineering organization.

• Focus time is essential; we prioritize the calendar for deep work, ensuring meetings are purposeful or do not occur.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have experience as a Principal Engineer or as the senior-most engineer on a team, or you may be a solution architect who has been coding and seeks to engage in more challenging engineering roles.

• You have made architectural decisions at scale and have enough experience to form opinions on what you would approach differently in the future.

• You are highly comfortable in a demanding application engineering environment.

• You can assist us in transitioning to domain-driven design.

• You possess a strong familiarity with C# and .NET.

• You likely have enough knowledge of Python and TypeScript to be effective, and if any new language or framework is required, you will quickly become the company's expert and support others in their learning process.
