This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.
• Act as a trusted advisor to utility executives and senior leaders regarding PMO strategy for capital projects, governance, and delivery maturity.
• Ensure that PMO operating models are aligned with the regulatory requirements of utilities, including capital planning, rate case management, compliance, and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with leadership to guarantee that PMOs support objectives related to reliability, safety, affordability, resilience, and decarbonization.
• Provide guidance on PMO structures that integrate generation, transmission, distribution, and corporate functions.
• Lead the creation or transformation of PMOs that back capital investment portfolios, grid modernization, renewable integration, energy transition, and regulatory initiatives.
• Design and execute PMO methodologies, frameworks, intellectual capital, processes, standards, and controls.
• Work together with PIMS specialists to establish technical requirements that align with functional delivery needs.
• Develop project lifecycle processes, stage-gate governance, portfolio prioritization, capital planning, risk management, forecasting, cost control, and earned value methodologies.
• Clarify roles, responsibilities, and decision-making authorities among internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Promote consistency and transparency throughout pre-construction, construction, and execution phases.
• Identify and address risks associated with permitting, supply chain issues, outages, regulatory timelines, and workforce availability.
• Assist in meeting regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements, including those from PUC, ISO/RTO, and internal audits.
• Ensure traceability between business cases, approved funding, execution activities, and achieved outcomes.
• Lead cross-functional teams to enhance resource allocation, delivery efficiency, and operational performance.
• Develop internal capabilities through playbooks, procedures, training, and transition planning.
• Provide expertise in contractor oversight, financial controls, and stakeholder coordination.
• Utilize knowledge of grid modernization, smart grid technologies, and renewable energy integration to steer program delivery.
• Contribute to the development of PMO methodologies and intellectual capital within the utilities sector.
• Support business development efforts through solution shaping, client presentations, and proposal creation.
• Share lessons learned and best practices across utility and energy sector projects.
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in utility project delivery, PMO consulting, and project management.
• Direct experience in assessing or implementing PMOs.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, construction management, or a related field.
• Willingness to travel to client locations.
• Availability to attend on-site workshops or interviews.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Capability to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
• Frequent use of computers, mobile devices, and collaboration tools.
• Good close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
