Principal Mobile Engineer, Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the mobile platform architecture.

• Define and develop the architecture for MetaMask Mobile (utilizing React Native and native components).

• Evaluate trade-offs between JavaScript/TypeScript, React Native, and native solutions.

• Design and oversee the core systems of the platform.

• Lead initiatives that span across multiple teams.

• Manage upgrades and migration processes.

• Perform structural work focused on performance and stability.

• Enhance the developer experience and automate processes.

• Improve tools and workflows for releases.

• Set standards for navigation and state management.

• Integrate AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) into operational workflows.

• Establish metrics and create dashboards to monitor performance and stability.

• Mentor engineers and guide the technical direction of the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in building and scaling mobile applications.

• Proven ownership of substantial, production-level React Native or hybrid mobile platforms.

• Prior experience in a Staff or Principal role, demonstrating impactful leadership in technical initiatives.

• Extensive expertise in using React Native in a production environment.

• Strong background in native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and/or Android (Kotlin/Jetpack) development.

• Familiarity with mobile CI/CD, release engineering, and over-the-air (OTA) systems.

• Demonstrated capacity to influence others without direct authority and to mentor senior engineers.

• Experience leveraging AI and LLMs to enhance productivity and code quality.
