Principal Engineer, Sitecore Architect – Optimizely

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete solution architecture for projects utilizing Optimizely, from gathering requirements to deployment and ongoing support.

• Create scalable, maintainable, and secure architectures leveraging Optimizely CMS (PaaS/SaaS), Commerce, and the Optimizely One platform.

• Establish technical standards, best practices, coding guidelines, and governance frameworks for development teams.

• Convert business needs into technical designs, integration strategies, and comprehensive architecture documentation.

• Offer technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, performing code reviews and ensuring high-quality outputs.

• Design integrations between Optimizely and external systems (CRM, ERP, PIM, marketing automation, search, payment gateways).

• Manage performance optimization, caching strategies, scalability, and security for all solutions.

• Collaborate with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives.

• Assist with pre-sales activities, including solution estimation, proposal creation, and technical demonstrations.

• Keep up-to-date with the Optimizely roadmap, feature launches, experimental capabilities, and personalization features.

• Develop and incorporate Optimizely Opal (AI agents and assistants) into solutions to streamline content workflows, enhance experimentation, and provide intelligent customer experiences.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of total experience.

• Extensive software development experience, particularly in architecting solutions with Optimizely (Episerver).

• Profound knowledge of Optimizely CMS and/or Commerce, with a focus on content modeling, templating, and add-on development.

• Strong skills in C#, ASP.NET Core / MVC, and the .NET ecosystem.

• Proficient in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks like React/Angular.

• Solid grasp of cloud platforms (preferably Azure), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps methodologies.

• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and headless/decoupled architectures.

• Strong understanding of SQL Server, caching mechanisms, search technologies (e.g., Optimizely Search & Navigation), and performance tuning.

• Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams and executing enterprise-level projects.

• Preferred Optimizely certifications (Certified Developer, Solution Architect).

• Familiarity with Optimizely Data Platform (ODP), Web Experimentation, and Feature Experimentation.

• Practical experience with Optimizely Opal AI — building or configuring AI agents, custom tools, and orchestration within the Optimizely One platform.

• Understanding of content personalization and A/B testing methodologies.

• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code practices.

• Experience in consulting or client-facing project delivery.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to balance technical expertise with business practicality.

• A mindset geared towards leadership, mentoring, and collaboration.
