Principal Engineer, Electrical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Act as the key subject matter expert and main reviewer technical lead for PV and BESS electrical engineering initiatives.

• Create, implement, and consistently enhance electrical design standards, templates, and best practices.

• Supervise electrical engineering deliverables to guarantee they are timely, compliant, of high quality, within budget, and feasible for construction.

• Evaluate electrical engineering designs and studies, produce deliverables, and serve as Engineer of Record for multiple projects concurrently.

• Lead, oversee, and mentor the electrical design team on PV and BESS projects.

• Advocate for innovation in design tools, processes, and plant technologies.

• Keep abreast of current and upcoming industry codes and standards and integrate them into design tools and processes.

• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to enhance project design and value while offering technical solutions.

• Assist in project pursuits by providing conceptual design and engineering budget insights.

• Support Operations by addressing RFIs, field alterations, and other design-related challenges.

• Perform technical assessments of proposed changes to project design requirements, material specifications, or methods.

• Work together with other engineering disciplines to merge civil, structural, and high-voltage design packages.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Electrical Power Engineering.

• Over 10 years of experience in power system design and engineering.

• More than 5 years of experience in PV or BESS.

• Professional Engineer license in one or more US states.

• Proven experience in leading a team of engineers and designers.

• Familiarity with NEC, ANSI, NEMA, IEEE, and other relevant codes and standards.

• Proficiency in relevant engineering software, including AutoCAD, ETAP, PVSyst/SAM, and applicable electrical system analysis software.

• EPC experience is preferred.
