Principal Engineer – Digital

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Rhode Island.

📋 Description

• Develop and oversee the comprehensive digital architecture strategy.

• Create and maintain Architecture Decision Records that direct engineering choices.

• Assess and confirm significant architectural decisions.

• Proactively identify and address architectural debt.

• Establish and uphold engineering standards, design principles, and best practices.

• Drive decisions regarding the technology radar.

• Set standards for web architecture.

• Lead performance engineering initiatives for web applications.

• Manage the strategy for third-party scripts.

• Formulate the organization's AI architecture strategy.

• Identify opportunities for AI solutions within the digital product portfolio.

• Design scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure.

• Define the architecture for backend services.

• Spearhead platform engineering projects.

• Design and oversee data architecture decisions.

• Lead the architecture for digital security.

• Define and enforce standards for SAST, DAST, SCA, and container scanning.

• Own the compliance architecture for HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, and PCI-DSS.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of software engineering experience with a broad technical scope across the organization.

• More than 5 years of practical expertise in at least two of the following: native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI), native Android (Kotlin/Jetpack), or modern web technologies (React/Next.js/TypeScript).

• At least 5 years of experience in cloud architecture (GCP, Azure, or AWS) with a focus on running production workloads at scale.

• A minimum of 5 years of security engineering experience, particularly with real-world compliance exposure.

• Over 3 years of experience in AI engineering, specifically in delivering production systems based on foundational models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or similar open-weight equivalents).

• At least 2 years of practical experience in developing agentic AI systems utilizing orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, or comparable tools.

• More than 2 years of experience in AI Delivery, focusing on the design and deployment of AI/ML-powered products at production scale.
